"Estamos muito satisfeitos que o governo do Brasil reverteu o cancelamento do visto do Sr. Rohter. Nós estamos felizes porque o Sr. Rohter poderá viajar livremente no país. Tanto o Brasil quanto o 'New York Times' se beneficiam em ter um correspondente do 'Times' cobrindo esse importante país.
"Nós mantemos que nossa matéria foi precisa e justa, como já fizemos ao longo da semana. Lamentamos a controvérsia política que a matéria criou, mas nossa petição para o governo não contém um pedido de desculpas ou uma retratação".

We are very pleased that the Government of Brazil has reversed its revocation of Mr. Rohter's visa. We are happy that Mr. Rohter will be allowed to travel freely in and out of the country. Both Brazil and The New York Times benefit from having a Times correspondent covering this important country.
We continue to maintain that our story was accurate and fair, as we have throughout the week. While we expressed our regrets at the political controversy that the story generated, our petition to the government contained neither an apology nor a retraction.
